Where to Escalate: Channels, Roles, and Confidentiality
Outlines the channels to use for escalation, the roles involved, and how confidentiality is maintained during the process.

Escalation Channels

Use the designated channels in your policy: direct supervisor, Human Resources, Compliance or Ethics, or a formal reporting hotline. For safety concerns, select the fastest channel identified by the organization.

Roles and Confidentiality

Know who will handle the report: HR, managers, compliance officers, and sometimes legal. Clarify confidentiality expectations and what information may be shared with investigators. Use the need-to-know principle to protect all parties.

Cross-Department Escalation

If incidents span several teams, escalate to HR and coordinate with Compliance. Clear information flow should protect the reporter while enabling a thorough review.
