Description:
Intersectionality explains how multiple identities interact to affect vulnerability and access to resources. This module helps you design inclusive pathways for support, referrals, and accommodations across diverse communities. You will practice inclusive language and culturally competent responses in varied contexts.
Pronouns and Names in Practice
Pronouns are how people wish to be addressed. Using correct pronouns and chosen names shows respect and reduces harm. Start by asking for pronouns in a respectful setting and include them in introductions, emails, and name badges. If you make a mistake, apologize briefly and correct yourself.
Inclusive Communication and Records
Update forms, directories, and badges to reflect chosen names and pronouns. Use gender neutral language where possible. Avoid assumptions based on appearance and resist stereotypes during conversations and hiring.
Respectful Corrections and Boundaries
People may change pronouns or names. Respect changes and avoid deadnaming. If unsure, listen and ask for guidance. A culture of respect reduces misgendering and increases comfort in sharing identity.
