What you learn:
- Identify power dynamics in common workplace scenarios
- Recognize microaggressions and their effects
- Apply psychological safety concepts to team routines
- Develop strategies to promote inclusive communication
Description:
Power dynamics shape interactions and influence reporting, accountability, and outcomes. This course unpacks microaggressions and their cumulative impact on trust and performance. You will learn practical strategies to foster psychological safety, encourage speaking up, and address subtle forms of bias in daily work.
Through case studies and simulations, you will develop skills to intervene early, support colleagues, and design spaces where diverse voices are heard and valued.
This lesson uses short, realistic scenarios to show how power dynamics manifest in everyday work situations. Case A describes a mid-level manager who dominates meetings and silences junior voices. Case B shows a senior employee who withholds information to control a project. Case C depicts retaliation against a colleague who raises a concern.
After each case, learners identify power signals, assess psychological safety, and suggest interventions that protect targets and promote fair processes.
Discussion prompts: what would you do in each situation? how can leaders and teams act to reduce harm and increase accountability?
