Description:
Allyship is a practical commitment to support colleagues from underrepresented groups. This course covers how to participate in ERGs (employee resource groups), create sponsorship opportunities, and measure their impact on culture and outcomes. You will explore governance, accountability, and best practices for sustainable programs.
Supporting Targets: Allies in Action
Supporting targets means listening with attention, validating experiences, and offering practical help. Your role is not to speak over the person. Instead, acknowledge their perspective and help them access resources such as reporting channels or mentors.
To be effective, balance discretion and advocacy. Check in privately, respect boundaries, and protect confidentiality. If requested, accompany the person to a meeting or to talk to a supervisor, or help them document incidents.
Be mindful of power dynamics. Allies can amplify voices by naming contributions, inviting input from marginalized colleagues, and ensuring diverse perspectives shape decisions. Small acts of support compound over time to create safety.
