Understanding the Anti-Retaliation Policy and Protections
This lesson explains the anti-retaliation policy, its scope, and the protections for individuals who report harassment or participate in investigations, emphasizing zero tolerance for retaliation and prompt, fair handling.

Anti-Retaliation Policy Overview

Retaliation is any adverse action taken against someone for reporting harassment, participating in an investigation, or supporting others in a case in good faith. Examples include demotion, assignment of unwanted tasks, negative performance notes, removal from projects, or social ostracism. The policy applies to all employees, contractors, interns, and volunteers across all locations and business units.

The organization prohibits retaliation and commits to prompt, fair handling of reports. Reports are kept confidential to the extent possible, and individuals who raise concerns are protected from retaliation regardless of investigation outcomes. Managers and peers are trained to recognize subtle forms of retaliation and to intervene early.

Key protections include:

  • Confidential handling of reports to the extent possible
  • Protection from retaliation for participants and witnesses
  • Prompt, fair investigations and appropriate corrective action
  • Support resources and reasonable accommodations if needed

If you experience or witness retaliation, document what happened and report it through the channels described in Lesson 2.
